Valentine's Day Cookies

I put these cute cookies out this morning for breakfast as our name cards.  I think they turned out cute.  I am frustrated, though, because I can't find my writing tip for my cake decorating supplies.  So, the writing didn't turn out perfectly, but good enough for plates on Valentine's day, right? :)  I like finding ways to make the holidays special, even though we don't have any kids in school to do the fun activities that you get that way.  We went and delivered a few valentine's today to Christopher's little buddies.  He had fun handing out candy and cookies.

Weekend Getaway

A couple of weekends ago, Dave and I got to take a weekend away without the kids (thanks Jon and Katie!!).  We had such a fun trip.  We decided to just go down to Dallas, and not waste our precious time (or money!) traveling.  We hadn't really had the chance to check Dallas out before that, so it was a lot of fun.  We had a great time, and I even got a new outfit out of the deal. :)  We splurged a little on the hotel and stayed at the Hotel Zaza.  It was a lot of fun, and a really beautiful place to stay.  The one downside was the nighttime noise.  We didn't count on it being a party hotel, or on the fact that we'd be able to hear everything going on - drunken yelling and everything.  Nice.  Especially since I was most excited to get some delicious, non-interrupted sleep.  Maybe we were just there on a bad weekend or something.  Oh well, we still had a blast!  I guess we're old fogies now - we like our peace and quiet.  :)
We went to the four-star restaurant in the hotel, and it was delicious, and the reason for the new outfit.  We laughed that we had to pay twice as much for half as much food as the restaurant we went to the next night.  It was actually just the right amount of food.  We didn't feel stuffed, but we weren't hungry either.  Perfect.  We went to the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Botanical Gardens, and just checked out Dallas via automobile.  We also got massages, so we came home nice and relaxed, if not rested. :)  All-in-all, it was a fabulous trip, and I'm glad Dave and I got to spend the time together.  It's good to remember that we're husband and wife, and not just daddy and mommy.  I love you, Dave!  Thanks for spending that fun weekend with me.

A New Prophet

Yesterday, the new prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was announced at a press conference at the Church Office Building.  I didn't have a chance to watch it live, but we all watched it together for Family Home Evening last night.  President Thomas S. Monson is now the sixteenth prophet for our Church.  His counselors are President Henry B. Eyring and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.  You can watch the press conference here by clicking on "video" and starting the player.
I know that President Monson is a prophet who receives revelation for us and for our day.  God speaks with him and instructs him in the direction the Church should go and in how to teach, care for, and best help the members become the best we can be.  I am excited to listen to and be instructed by President Monson.

Fun with Daddy

Dave was playing with the kids the other night, and it turned into a fun wrestle mania. Even Naomi got in on the action. It's fun to watch the interaction between daddies and kids. I love my family!

Christmas

I'm back!  For real this time.  I finally feel like I'm starting to get caught up with things.  So, I decided to take a Friday and do some much needed blogging.  So, these are our Christmas pictures.  The first ones are from the Sunday before Christmas, then the day of Christmas.  Notice I'm in my pajamas in all the pictures of Christmas. :)  We were all up the whole night before while Christopher threw up, then I was sick Christmas afternoon.  Luckily we were all okay for Christmas morning, and had a lot of fun together.  Naomi started crawling on Christmas day.  Maybe it was all those fun new toys motivated her to get moving.  She's crawling all over the place now, has started pulling up, and has even tried standing by herself.  Currently all she can manage is hands on the floor with her bum in the air.  I'll try and catch a picture of it, since it's so cute.
We're doing well now.  The kids are just getting over fevers and runny noses, but seem to do a lot better now.  I can't believe January is already over.  Time to get out decorations for Valentine's day, I guess.
