Mutual Night

Wednesday nights are mutual nights. It's nice to have a mid-week break for some adult/teenager communication. It's nice to leave the house and kids in whatever stage they're at (dinner, bedtimes, or whatever), and know that Dave is taking great care of them. I know it's stressful for him to quit working so early, especially as they're working through this market crunch we're having, but it's good for him to have time with the kids. They love seeing him, for sure. Tonight, when Dave got home, Naomi let out the cutest little squeal of delight when she saw him. She loves her Daddy! Christopher loves being able to play video games with his Daddy. He loves doing anything that Dave is.
We made some freezer dinners for one of the YW leaders tonight. She had her baby at 27 weeks, and is getting ready to bring him home from the hospital (he's 34 weeks now). So, we're making dinners for her to have a chance to breathe with everything that it will mean to have a preemie home. Each class (beehives, mia maids and laurels) made a different meal. We did homemade mac and cheese. It was easy with everyone helping together, and a lot of fun to just stand around and chat. It was a good chance for me to get to know some of the girls a little better. We currently only have 2 active Mia Maids, so I think I'll be able to do a lot personal things with them. I'm excited to get into this calling. Well, it's back to working on the database for me.

Stake Split

So, we had a nice Stake Conference yesterday. It's always nice to hear from the Priesthood leaders of the Stake. We also had a member of a quorum of the 70s visiting. He was there to split our stake. We now have the McKinney Stake and the Allen Stake. The outgoing presidency and incoming presidency both bore their testimonies. Both of the visiting authorities spoke about the atonement, and did a very nice job.
The ward building that we go to is now in the Allen stake. It makes me wonder if they'll move us to a different building. Unfortunately the stake center already has four wards going there, so maybe they'll just leave us until the new building on Lake Forest is done. We'll see. I just hope they don't announce anything next week, since we won't be there! I'll have to check with someone before we go to church when we get back.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Just wanted to say "happy birthday" to my Mom. Her birthday is today, and she's turning...25. Wait, that can't be right...Then she would have been one when I was born. Oh well. :) I hope you have a fabulous, day, Mom. I wish we could be there to celebrate with you guys, but we're really looking forward to next Friday. It's been too long since we've seen you guys! Then we'll get to go birthday shopping together. Yay! I told Christopher that we were going on a plane soon, to see Grandma and Grandpa, and he proceeded to tell me a story about getting to play outside at Grandma and Grandpa's, and about how they would go and play with him. He sure loves you guys!

A Survey

So, I am wondering about cleaning. How often do you clean your house, how much do you clean, who does the cleaning, and when (what day of the week) do you clean? I'm curious, and wishing I kept my house cleaner. I'd love suggestions on how to do that. We super-cleaned on Saturday, and I love the feeling of a clean house. We can't spend the entire day cleaning EVERY Saturday, though! Let me know; leave a comment!
This is how I feel sometimes. :)

My cuties

So, I think I have the cutest kids in the whole world. I know some of you out there would object, on the grounds that your kids are cuter, but I would have to disagree. :) Here are the pictures to prove it.

A New Calling

So, for the past few months I have been doing Activity Days in our ward. I totally love that calling. The girls (I had the 8-9 year olds) are so excited to be there. They love anything you do with them, and are so innocent. It's only twice a month, and there's nothing to do on Sundays. Oh, and no meetings. :) I guess I couldn't have it so easy for long. I was just thinking last week how nice it is to be in Relief Society, and was wondering how long it could last. Not long. So, my new calling is...drum roll, please...Mia Maid advisor. Yup, Young Women's. It will be fun, even if it is more work. I'll be teaching the Sunday lesson on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Next week is Stake Conference, though, and then I'm heading to Washington for two weeks, so I won't have to teach until the 23rd of September. I'll be going to, and helping plan mutual as well. That will mean that Dave has to be home by 6:30 on Wednesday nights. Yikes! Another thing to add to our schedule. I'm excited to get to know the other leaders better, and the girls too. It will be nice to have some more social interaction on a regular basis. I'll let you know how it goes!

Blogging

So, I have decided to start blogging. You'll have to excuse the way the page looks at the moment. I'm still trying to figure out how to get everything to work with my Mac. I like the idea of using this as a journal. I'm really, really horrible at journal writing (for example: "It's been a year since I wrote last..." at every journal entry), so hopefully this will work out better! My friend, Holly, has a really awesome blog that I love reading. http://duenasfam.blogspot.com/ She's a great writer - witty, funny, and interesting. I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but Holly gave me the final push in an email the other day. She said how much fun it is, and suggested starting one. So, here I am. I'll try and at least make the posts readable. :)
